QUESTIONS FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MEETINGS AND ONLINE INPUT
Please consider the following framework which describes the three phases of the investigative process, then answer the questions below.
Phase 1 – The incident occurs and the scene is immediately secured by the involved agency to ensure the protection and preservation of evidence
Phase 2 – The involved agency hands over the scene to an (independent) investigative team who continues to identify, gather, and preserve evidence until the investigation is complete
Phase 3 – The evidence is presented by the independent investigative team to the prosecutor to determine if the actions of the officers comply with the new deadly force law
