Sheriff's Civil Function - Basic

This class is 24 hours in length. Course content will include:

  • Sheriff's history
  • Duties and responsibilities
  • Service of process, statutes, fees and terms, legal issues
  • DV "front office papers"
  • Domestic violence legal issues
  • Habeas corpus
  • Personal property, attachment, replevins, bonds
  • Personal property executions
  • Real property
  • Officer safety and domestic violence
  • Restitution

Who can attend our classes?

This course if open to active law enforcement personnel currently employed with a Sheriff's Office.

Dress Code

Visitors attending training at the WSCJTC are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform or agency ID badge while on campus. 

Visitors not wearing agency identification can attend classes in business casual attire.  They will need to check in at the front desk and wear a clip-on visitor's identification card.

Schedule

Times, dates, and location will vary per class. 

Class ends at noon on the last day of training.

Cancellation

Deadline to cancel is 7 days prior to class.  Send an email to atd@cjtc.wa.gov to cancel your registration.
