CIT - Crisis Intervention Team 40hr - Statewide

This course provides comprehensive training on the legal and clinical aspects of mental illness, including civil commitments, liability considerations, mental disorders, and indicators of a mental health/substance use crisis. Participants learn practical skills in communication, documentation, and de-escalation to effectively engage individuals in crisis and work collaboratively with families, community resources, and behavioral-health partners.

Instruction emphasizes practical skills, allowing students to strengthen decision-making, interpersonal communication, and crisis-response strategies across a range of patrol-level situations.

WHO CAN ATTEND OUR CLASSES?

This class is primarily for Law enforcement officers and deputies within the state of Washington. Criminal justice, fire, mental health providers, and other emergency responders will be admitted into the class if space is available.

Local resources are an important part of the course content, participating in a class near your jurisdiction is important for course relevance. Location will be considered at the time of enrollment.

AUDIENCE:

This is an Advanced Training Class for Certified Peace Officers.

REIMBURSEMENT

Reimbursement for overtime and backfill is available to this class.

DRESS CODE

For security reasons, visitors attending training at the WSCJTC are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform or agency ID badge while on campus.

Visitors who are not wearing agency identification can attend classes in business casual attire.

REGULATION

Crisis Intervention Training is required by all full-time Washington peace officers. Please review HB 2015, WAC 139-09, and RCW 43.101.427 for more details.

SCHEDULE

Classes are typically held 0800 - 1600 Monday through Friday, unless otherwise noted.

REGISTRATION

Contact your training unit or Training Manager to register you in the Acadis Portal.

If the class is full, registrants will be placed on a waitlist. The CIT Program Manager reserves the discretion to approve or deny enrollment from the waitlist based on program needs, location and eligibility criteria.

CANCELLATION

Deadline to cancel is 7 days prior to class. Contact your training unit or Training Manager to cancel your registration.

$50 no show or late cancellation fee.
