As we move deeper into fall and toward the close of the year, I want to pause and recognize the meaningful momentum happening across our agency this month. November gives us a chance to celebrate achievement, honor service, and continue leading statewide conversations about the future of public safety training in Washington.
Southwest Regional Campus Earns IADLEST Accreditation
I’m thrilled to share that our Southwest Regional Campus in Vancouver has officially earned IADLEST accreditation. Even more impressive: the campus received the highest score ever recorded by IADLEST.
This milestone builds on the accreditation our Burien headquarters earned earlier this year, placing Washington among a very small group of agencies nationwide that meet these rigorous national standards. It’s a testament to the hard work of our instructors, staff, and partners who are committed to delivering world-class, student-centered training at every location.
Our vision is statewide consistency and excellence, and Vancouver’s accreditation pushes us another step forward. Thank you to everyone who played a role in making this happen.
Honoring Veterans Day
November also brings an important moment of reflection. Many members of our WSCJTC community — recruits, instructors, staff, and alumni — have served in our armed forces. Their dedication to service didn’t end when their military career did; it continues every day in the work they do for our communities.
To all veterans in our WSCJTC family and across Washington: thank you. Your leadership, experience, and commitment strengthen our agency and our state.
Hosting the 2025 LETCSA Summit
This month, we’re proud to host the LETCSA Summit — a statewide gathering focused on strengthening police accountability, elevating voices from the community, and continuing the important work that grew out of the Law Enforcement Training and Community Safety Act.
Bringing partners, practitioners, and community members together under one roof is essential to building trust and advancing the future of training. I’m grateful to our team for organizing this year’s summit and ensuring it reflects the values we stand for: transparency, accountability, and collaboration.
Looking Ahead
With accreditation milestones, veteran appreciation, and statewide leadership events happening all at once, November showcases who we are as an agency: committed to excellence, grounded in service, and always moving forward.
Thank you all for your continued dedication and for showing up every day ready to make a difference.
Warmly,
Monica
