CIT - Crisis Intervention Team - Youth

The CIT-Youth curricula is being updated and no training is scheduled for 2020. The target date will be early of 2021. Thank you for you patience.

Crisis Intervention Team-Youth, is an 8-hour class, designed to train police officers and mental health experts who have already been trained in the 40 hour, adult CIT model, and who have a role in CIT training in their department or region. This course will use the new youth-focused curriculum and add valuable tools to the CIT trained personnel at your department. CIT was developed by law enforcement for law enforcement.

CIT – Youth will address critical youth specific topics including:

  • Adolescent development principles
  • Youth mental health symptoms and disorders
  • Crisis de-escalation and interventions skills and communication techniques
  • Local service and resources linkages for youth (e.g., mental health and crisis)

To register for the course, contact your Training Manager to assign the training to you via LMS.

Upcoming classes are listed below.  Registration does not guarantee acceptance into the class.  Selections will be completed four weeks prior to the class; those accepted into the class will receive a notification at that time.

Participants must have successfully completed a Crisis Intervention Team Training, Basic, 40HR, or other type of de-escalation type training (King County or Statewide).

Who can attend our classes?

This class is open to agency personnel that have successfully completed the perquisites.

Dress Code

Visitors attending training at the WSCJTC are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform or agency ID badge while on campus. 

Visitors not wearing agency identification can attend classes in business casual attire.  They will need to check in at the front desk and wear a clip-on visitor's identification card.

Schedule

There are no courses scheduled for 2020 due to a curriculum rewrite. Courses are expected to launch in 2021.

Deadline to cancel is 7 days prior to class.  Send an email to atd@cjtc.wa.gov to cancel your registration.
